What to Bring:
Extra Layers are always a good idea, conditions offshore are usually cooler, windier, and wetter than at the dock. Keep in mind that you're going to spend the day on a fishing boat and the deck is likely to be wet and bloody. If you'd rather not be wet and bloody, scuff resistant rubber boots and waterproof bibs are a good idea. We'll fish rain or shine, so it never hurts to bring full raingear, too.
Lunch and snacks. No food is provided, plan accordingly.
Medication to prevent sea sickness is strongly recommended. Drammamine, Bonine, etc. works very well when taken 30-60 minutes prior to departure.
Within 48 hours of your trip, the Captain will contact you to review the details of your trip including the weather, departure location and time, as it varies with a given day's weather and tides. Hopefully, it's full speed ahead to the fishing grounds.
If it's not safe to head offshore, we won't go. We'll try again when the weather is better, and we'll be glad that we rescheduled. If we can't reschedule, your deposit will be refunded.
A crew gratuity of 15-20 percent is customary on most charterboats, including the "Rita B."
The Fine Print
*Off Shore fishing trips are not recommended for children under the age of 12.
*Deposit of $200.00 required to secure reservations for fishing trips; $100 deposit required for Non-fishing trips.
*Boat is BYOB, but over consumption is prohibited. Captain reserves the right to terminate any trip at any time without refund if he feels the safety of any person on board is threatened. No hard alcohol, please.
*The Rita B. is smoke free and all Illegal drugs are strictly prohibited. This includes cannabis, as we are operating on federal waters with laws enforced by the USCG.
*Full payment is required before the boat leaves the dock.
*If the Captain terminates the trip because of weather, once you've left the dock and it's less than 50% complete, then you will be refunded half of the trip's cost.
*If you decide to terminate the trip at any time after the boat leaves the dock, your money will not be refunded.
*If the trip is terminated because of mechanical failure, prior to the start of fishing, then you'll receive a full refund.
*Everyone's heard that saying "That's why they call it fishing, not catching." It's true, I can't guarantee that you'll catch fish. I can promise that I'll try my damnedest and use every bit of my 19 years of deep sea fishing experience to find some actively biting fish. The longer trips have the highest rate of success and are recommended for best results.
